The New Improved Cliqq.Me Link Shortening Service

Welcome back to the Twitter Ally blog...

For a while now I’ve had my link shortening service Cliqq.Me up and running. “Big deal!” you say, “there are heaps of URL shorteners out there!” Well not like this…

You see, from the birth of internet marketing there has been the question of “How do I get my advertising in front of my website visitors without annoying the $#|+ out of them at the same time?”

The first attempts were terrible, namely popups. I mean who isn’t annoyed by those things? That’s why most browsers block them by default now. Then there were popunders, but they hardly ever got seen. Then you had all those “link splitter” programs where you paid for a program to write some simple code for you. Hmmph.

To cut a long story short, anyone worth their salt these days uses dynamic unblockable popups on their site for email optins and so on. And now you have people using similar for large window ads and having a ‘Skip this Ad’ dialogue. But still, they aren’t supported by all browsers and once you skip them they ain’t coming back either.

So I went back to the drawing board to make something simple that works. A little dynamic javascript and some simple frames (remember those?) for pretty much universal browser support. After my first attempt with Cliqq.Me and having a simple link up the top in a frame, I noticed the clickthrough rate could be much improved… and then I thought… making people click and wait for a page to load is just ridiculous.

The new Cliqq.Me loads both pages in frames, one hidden and one shown. It puts the page you want people to see (eg. a salespage) directly in front of them, similar to those ‘Skip this Ad’ dynamic popups – but it’s fullpage. And then there is a small frame up the top allowing visitors to instantly switch between this page and the requested page.

So what has this got to do with you? It means the age-old problem is finally solved in a real and simple way. You can take your visitors to two pages instead of one without either hassling them or worrying about clickthroughs which reduce conversions.

Now whenever I recommend a webpage or resource to my Twitter followers using my Cliqq.Me links – which I do regularly and automatically having scheduled these posts in my Twitter Ally Tweet Rotator – I get my promotion seen while providing quality content whether it’s mine or someone elses.

But enough talk, to actually see what I’m talking about just click here for an example.

The bottom line: Really easy full webpage promotion without annoying your site visitors or followers. :-)
